Travel information

By airplane

Heidelberg is just about 80km south from Germany’s main airport hub Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) operated by all major airlines (including Lufthansa, RyanAir etc.). On arrival at Frankfurt Airport, go to the train station “Fernbahnhof”. From there, you can take the train either to Heidelberg Central Station directly or via Mannheim Central Station where you change to the tram to Heidelberg Central Station.

Other airports include  Stuttgart (STR)Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (FKB) and Mannheim (MHG).

By train

Heidelberg Central Station can be reached via train by Germany’s railway operator Deutsche Bahn. 

By car

Heidelberg is located in the Rhein-Neckar metropole region and can be reached via several highways.

Directions from north (from Frankfurt a.M.): take highway A5 and at Kreuz Heidelberg follow directions to Heidelberg

Directions from south (from Basel): take highway A5 and at Kreuz Heidelberg follow directions to Heidelberg

Directions from west: take highway A6 to Viernheim (Viernheimer Dreieck), then take highway A67 to Mannheim and then highway A656  to Heidelberg
